As a resident oo Port Hope Ontario experiencing a major disruption due to the so called nuclear waste cleanup which includes an arsenic cleanup ( levels no higher than other communities) and a cleanup that may take a decade or more I am very concerned for the long term impact on the community. The long term impact of and factors such as the current clean up ,reconstruction, new construction, environmental impacts needing full assessments, impacts on local area farms and livestock and Field crops and the contamination on the old Wesleyville site! Where will the waste currently on site be deposited, where will the waste for the proposed new site be deposited or destroyed? The infrastructure of Port Hope, roads, verges in most areas have been damaged and will also need repairs as a result.
I know the current government says it is a go however without a thorough consultation process and an accurate environmental assessment of of all lands, waterways, the lake as well as air quality an the length of the current cleanup this development should not proceed !- Submitted by
