Lucky Man Cree Nation Access Road Design and Construction

Lucky Man Cree Nation is proposing the construction of a new access road (approximately 2.1 km long and 9.0 metres in width), 2 cul-se-sac style developments with five (5) residential lots each, a parking lot and access pathways within the cultural centre of the community. The lots are intended for residential development, and the access road is intended for expansion in the future as a safety access road. There will be one culvert creek crossing installed at the north end of the access road to accommodate flow of an unnamed creek. Flow will be maintained and works are not expected to permanently impact any waterbodies. The footprint of the development is approximately 36 acres.

Activities will include clearing, stripping and grading, culvert installation, as well as the placement of gravel and some landscape restoration works. The detailed design process will confirm the estimated volume of import earth material that will be required, which will be sourced from reserve stores. Prior to construction activities, relevant wildlife sweeps and surveys will be completed. All undisturbed areas will be surveyed prior to clearing.

Latest update

March 28, 2026 – Indigenous Services Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting public comments until April 27, 2026 respecting that determination.
