Hatchet Lake Landfill

Hatchet Lake Denesuline Nation is proposing to construct a new Landfill to service the community for the next 25 years. The expansion is to be located west of the existing non-engineered landfill for disposal of mixed waste stream from household from non-hazardous commercial and institutional sources. The new landfill will include a new 4.5 ha mixed solid waste containment cell, leachate collection system, leachate holding pond, and upgraded access road. The project will also include a new attendant building, equipment storage building and diversion bays for recyclable materials. The existing non-engineered landfill will be closed and decommissioned.
